Turkish Intelligence Chief discuss Gaza truce with Hamas delegation

(MENAFN) Turkish Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin met on Wednesday in Istanbul with a delegation from the Palestinian group Hamas to discuss the ongoing Gaza ceasefire.

The delegation was led by Khalil al-Hayya, a member of Hamas’ Political Bureau and head of its negotiation team. During the meeting, the Hamas representatives expressed their gratitude to Türkiye, particularly to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, for its role as a mediator and guarantor in achieving and monitoring the ceasefire.

The delegation reaffirmed their commitment to the ceasefire agreement, despite reported violations by Israel throughout the process. Discussions also focused on the measures required to ensure the ceasefire proceeds smoothly and to address existing challenges.

Both sides reviewed the steps for implementing the next phases of the ceasefire plan. Additionally, the meeting included a briefing on Türkiye’s humanitarian aid to Gaza and its ongoing efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis. Cooperation with international organizations to facilitate increased aid deliveries was also part of the discussions.
