Turkey praises Syrian truce deal as key move toward “terror-free region”

(MENAFN) Türkiye welcomes the ceasefire and full integration arrangement reached in Syria, describing it as a major advance toward the long-standing objective of creating what officials call a “terror-free region,” a vision repeatedly underscored by the country’s leadership.

According to official statements shared on Sunday, authorities stress that the execution of the agreement’s provisions will be carefully observed, noting that recent developments are not accidental but instead align with principles and cautions emphasized for years by the Turkish president.

Officials underline that achieving lasting calm in Syria hinges on protecting the rights of all ethnic and religious communities through equal citizenship, arguing that inclusivity is essential for sustainable stability.

“A Syria that preserves its territorial integrity and is cleared of terrorist organizations is key to regional peace,” one statement says, while also pointing out that measures and initiatives undertaken by the Syrian government in this direction carry particular significance.

Türkiye is portrayed as a key player both militarily and diplomatically, with officials highlighting that actions taken against armed groups contribute to forming a secure belt along the country’s borders, while parallel diplomatic engagement supports frameworks shaping Syria’s political future.

“Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty are indispensable for Türkiye,” another statement says, adding that Ankara considers its neighbor’s security inseparable from its own, viewing peace as a core principle and stability as a strategic objective.
