US, Iran Appear Willing to Compromise on Nuclear Deal—Turkish FM
Speaking to reports, Fidan highlighted that Washington has signaled a readiness to be flexible on a major demand requiring Iran to halt all uranium enrichment. He also suggested that Tehran “genuinely wants to reach a real agreement” and could accept limitations on enrichment levels along with a rigorous inspection regime, similar to the 2015 deal with the US and other global powers.
“It is positive that the Americans appear willing to tolerate Iranian enrichment within clearly set boundaries,” Fidan said. “The Iranians now recognize that they need to reach a deal with the Americans, and the Americans understand that the Iranians have certain limits. It’s pointless to try to force them.”
Fidan cautioned, however, that if the US “insists on addressing all the issues simultaneously”—referring to Iran’s ballistic missile program and regional militant support—the nuclear negotiations “will not move forward.”
“The result could be another war in the region,” he warned, emphasizing the high stakes of the talks.
