The Turkish interior minister, Mustafa Ciftci, confirms the outcome and authorities say an investigation has been launched into the incident.
According to reports, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office “immediately initiated an investigation,” assigning a deputy chief prosecutor and two additional prosecutors to the case.
Prosecutors reportedly arrive at the scene promptly and begin on-site examinations, with the probe described as being conducted “meticulously and in a multi-faceted manner” in coordination with law enforcement units.
Initial findings suggest that the attack was directed at Turkish police officers stationed in the area, and authorities continue efforts to fully clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
